Resilience and Adaptability – 8 online modules

Online training

Lunchtime seminars : Resilience

Resilience is our ability to return to a powerful and serene state of equilibrium no matter what happens. It is a skill that we will develop during this course.

How ? Through 8 online modules of 1 hour each.

Benefits :

Each module takes place online in the presence of Chantal Vander Vorst, and includes

  • Knowledge and facts to better understand
  • Exercises to develop resilience and adaptability
  • A guided thematic meditation
  • A behavioural anchoring exercise inspired by martial arts
  • One summary sheet per module
  • Suggestions for exercises, food-for-thought and further readings from one module to the next.

Agenda :

Module 1: The power of the brain.

Observation: a part of the brain allows us to be resilient and to adapt, but it is overridden by our “autopilot”. Our goal: to set it free.

Module 2: The link between emotions, behavior, thoughts, and … our genes.

Observation: we have 60 to 70,000 thoughts per day and more than 90 % of these are the same as the thoughts of the day before. Our goal: to develop a virtuous circle.

Module 3: Stress, stressors and stressability.

Observation: Stress is an instinctive state of emergency which, in humans, appears in more than 95% of cases for irrational reasons. Our goal: to weed out the unnecessary.

Module 4 : Mental cages.

Observation: each time we recall a negative memory in our thoughts, we produce chemical reactions and we relive the event as if it were there. but… is that really the case, here and now? Rarely. Our goal: to release blockages.

Module 5: Crossing the River of Change.

Observation : resilience and adaptability are skills, they can be developed. Why is it sometimes so difficult when these skills are genetically programmed in us? Our goal: to create the motivation to evolve.

Module 6: Building up discipline.

Observation: changing a psychological, emotional or behavioural habit requires awareness, rigour and discipline. Our goal : to anchor change.

Module 7 : Anchoring oneself.

Observation: the Automatic Mental Mode makes us loose our focus and leads us into narratives that are often negative. Why? Because in the wild, this memory of danger is essential to avoid it. Our goal: to stay the course.

Module 8: Creating your dream through visualisation.

Observation: the vitality, prosperity and longevity of a wish or project corresponds to the vitality, prosperity and longevity of its owner. Our goal : to create the conditions for change.

When work engulfs us

Over-investment is a behaviour with obsessive tendencies that falls within the framework of behavioural addictions, thus creating human risks and psychosocial disorders. In its most acute manifestations, this addiction can lead to “workaholic” behaviour that can result in burnout, traumatic consequences and extremely intense demotivation. This addictive behaviour can also manifest itself in the sentimental or family life.

The Detox & Grow Academy takes you on a journey to the heart of over-investment consisting of:

  • 8 online modules of 1.5 hours each

Using our brain to learn

Every person involved in teaching (trainer, teacher…) would gain from becoming an expert in human behaviours.
Our curriculum consists of 4 complementary modules
  1. Integrate neuropedagogy and play-based learning into the learning process
  2. Personality-based learning
  3. Manage challenging behaviours
  4. Working on one’s attitude through coaching

1. Integrate neuropedagogy and play-based learning into the learning process

Neuropedagogy encourages a sustainable learning process by helping the learner to better use her/his cerebral resources. Neuropedagogy is the discipline that brings together science and pedagogy. It aims to stimulate certain parts of the brain in such a way that it creates new connections.

The objectives of this module are to:

  • Identify and mobilise the different brain territories. Use the brain plasticity of the learners in order to facilitate the long-term retention of what has been learned
  • Acquire practical neuropedagogical and play-based learning tools, which are transferable to any type of learning process
  • Reveal the collective intelligence of the group

2. Personality-based learning

We all have “primary personality” traits, stemming from the post-natal imprint mechanism. These traits structure and define our deep, sustained and even unalterable motivations. When we let these traits express themselves, we open a bottom-less reservoir of motivation, energy and pleasure in the action. Then, throughout the course of life, under stimulation of our environment, we develop “secondary personality” traits. These generate more superficial motivations, which are changing and depend on performance and recognition and expose us to demotivation and stress.

The objectives of this module are to:

  • Get acquainted with different dynamics and personalities
  • Learn how to learn in a way that is motivating
  • Adapt the learning process to different personalities
  • Take a step back, identify the main teaching styles and dare to be different

3. Manage challenging behaviours

Teaching and learning are also highly relational acts: human behaviours play an important role in it.

The following tools and approaches will be considered and put into practice during this module:

  • The art of the open-ended question
  • How to address a stressed-out person and start a genuine dialogue
  • How to adapt communications to the level of understanding of the person you are speaking to
  • How to deal with dominating personalities and emerge stronger from a power struggle
  • How to address “bad faith” (dishonesty) and look at this behaviour from a different angle

4. Working on one’s attitude through coaching

The goal of coaching is to bring out the potential and resources in everyone. Coaching was born in the sporting world. Coaching was born in the sporting world. Coaching is a transformation process. The coach’s job, regardless of her/his field of activity or intervention, is “to support a person or a group of persons in order to reach objectives faster and more effectively, as compared to a situation where this person or group of persons would be alone.” The objectives of this module are to:

  • Help learners spring into action
  • Reach objectives faster and more effectively
  • Foster learners’ autonomy in relation to their successes and learning process
  • Understand and practice coaching
  • Use the main tools: vision, active listening, questioning, requests, feedback

Using our brain to learn

Neuropedagogy’s  objective is to integrate human behavioural dynamics into learning processes, from a neuroscientific perspective. The aim is to stimulate certain parts of the brain in such a way that it creates new connections. This is the key to motivating and sustained learning experiences.

Neurone liberation

Key indicators consists of the visible part of our cerebral processes: successes and failures, profitability and losses, motivation, dropout, absenteeism and presenteeism. Acting both on the visible part as on our mental processes are key to the success of this wonderful adventure that is to “free” organisations.

Toxic Management

Harassment. Humiliations. Vexations. These are the first elements that come to mind when we talk about “toxic management”. However, limiting toxic management to harassment would be simplistic. During this workshop, we will explore the scientific causes of toxic management and we will offer key diagnosing tools as well as remedies.

Feedback within organisations

Practising feedback is key for learning organisations. Implementing this culture requires to be able to give and receive feedback. We will address it from the sports perspective: spontaneous, quick and powerful.

Other topics are available. Please get in touch with us to meet, exchange and create the appropriate answers to the issues you are facing.
